"I strongly believe that patience, discipline, courage, and artistry make up an exceptional teacher. It has taken a lifetime of love and perseverance to develop my skills that will only continually evolve. It's a musical journey starting with one lesson at a time and the sky is the limit."
My Teaching Philosophy
Music study is essential because it provides you with many life lessons, and opens you up to a new level of sensitivity, creativity, and wonder. My teaching philosophy and purpose are to provide a warm, inviting, fun, and inspiring environment for each of my students and their parents. We are constantly evolving as teachers and students, and through one lesson at a time, we can become the kind of person and musician we strive for. I teach piano because it's rewarding, fun, and at times very unpredictable. I appreciate every student I teach because they're different and unique in their own ways, and you never know where the learning path will lead. A very important vision of mine is to adapt and provide each student with the resources and goals they hope to achieve.
Some specific skills that I am always working to improve upon are an organized and structured practice schedule for my students, and the discipline to practice with goals in mind and without distractions. It is imperative for the parents to be present during the practice sessions at home especially for students younger than 8 years old. Eventually becoming a fluent reader in both the treble and bass clef is also a very important key to the students musical growth and success. I want my students to remember their lessons with the feeling they have learned something valuable, and also have some fun while learning.
Lessons
Embark on a musical journey and become a musician through professional lessons.

I conduct lessons weekly in the students home or virtually. Lessons are grouped into 30, 45, and 60 minutes- depending on the students age and experience. Please contact me for lesson rates.

Studio Policy and Guidelines

I divide the calendar into 2 semesters: September-January, and February-June. I also welcome summer lessons, which I count separately. For each student/family, I expect the parent to pay for the lessons on a monthly basis at the start of each month. This could range anywhere from 3-5 lessons, depending on the month. Please kindly give me 24 hours notice if your child has to miss the lesson and we can arrange a make-up class. If you do not provide me with this notice, you will be obligated to pay for that missed lesson. Of course I understand that sudden illnesses and events occur that we cannot control at times. If a student must miss the lesson, I will allow 2 makeups throughout the semester.

Music & Materials
At the start of each school year, and especially if your child is a complete beginner, I will provide the parent with a list of books and materials to purchase for the lessons, and for practicing. For my intermediate to advanced students, you may already have the materials you need. If there are any exercise or repertoire books that need to be added, I will let the parent know.
Practicing Expectations

Depending on the students level, I except my students to practice at least 4-5 days a week. For my beginner students, 10-20 minutes. For my older beginner to intermediate students, 20-45 minutes, and for my advanced students, 45 minutes to an hour or longer. Feel free to discuss this with me, as I know each student has different needs, goals, and expectations. I highly recommend for students ages 4-8, that the parent be present during the child's practice sessions. It is important for the parent to encourage the child to practice daily especially in these early years of learning. Developing positive practice habits will ensure success in the students learning and goals that they hope to achieve later on in their life.

Age & Skill Requirements

My preferred age group to teach are between the ages of 7 to adult. However, I have 20 years of teaching experience from ages 4 and up. I welcome all types of skills ranging from complete beginner to advanced levels of playing.
Providing my students with a solid foundation in the standard classical piano repertoire is important to me because this is the way in which I was trained and I feel it's where I greatly excel. Of course I do allow and provide my students with the option to explore other genres if they express an interest.
Recitals
Have The Chance To Participate In a Memorable Musical Event

I host 1-2 Studio Piano Recitals a year. My approach provides a supportive environment for student pianists to share their talent, while also inspiring one another. I encourage all of my students to participate with the opportunity to perform as many pieces as they have prepared over the year or the last several months.
Royal Conservatory of Music
I am a certified teacher of The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM). When my students reach a certain level along with a well developed work ethic, I strongly encourage this musical approach. The student must prepare technical requirements, etudes, repertoire, aural skills, and sight-reading. When the students level of study is sufficiently prepared, they participate in an exam. This is a terrific opportunity for the student to explore what it entails to become a well rounded musician. Please contact me for further details.
